So, if you're trying to fix a problem that is caused by mods and you haven't modded your game, I don't know what to tell you. I have put a few hundred hours into the game between PS3 (the worst way to play the game) and PC (the best) and what you are stating never happened. The reason you probably found zero support for your issue is that it is exactly what happens when somebody mods in customer textures and fails to turn on archive invalidation.
